Intermountain Distributing Co. came into fruition in 1949 when Ralph Nelles won the Anheuser-Busch franchise for the Billings region solidified in a single page, four paragraph document with Eberhard Anheuser. While the company was initially founded on Anheuser-Busch, Mr. Nelles cultivated a thriving business by adding new brands and promoting the company’s presence in the community.

While Mr. Nelles was the cornerstone upon which the company was built, it was Donald Brocopp, Ralph’s son-in-law, who, in 1976, took over the day-to-day operations that diversified and grew the business.  It was during his tenure that the groundwork was laid allowing us to become the company we are today.  Don parlayed an existing knowledge of the inner workings of beverage distribution into wine and specialty products with one simple philosophy -- treat others how you would want to be treated.

Today, the company is moving forward with the guidance of Don’s son, Tim Brocopp.  In a variety of ways, Tim’s time at the helm has seen shift in the beer industry, particularly in the burgeoning craft beer segment — and Intermountain Distributing Co. is on board. Our wine division is healthy and strong and we are always on the lookout for new offerings to enhance our existing portfolio.  Our goal is to find the synergies between our customers and the products we represent by bringing in the new without losing sight of the brands that have remained tried and true.

In addition, our continued success would not be possible without our incredibly talented network of employees that represent the highest standards of excellence and the community in which we serve. We continue to be a strong advocate of community involvement and the responsible use of our products.
